Code of Conduct
The New Britain-Berlin YMCA is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all our members and guests. In order to ensure this, the YMCA has developed a Code of Conduct to make sure the actions and behavior of all people while in our facilities and while participating in our programs are conducting themselves in a manner consistent with the mission and values of the YMCA.
The following are PROHIBITED :
1) The sale, possession, distribution or use of any illegal substance (including alcohol) by an individual on YMCA property
2) Threats of harm, physical aggression or violent acts
3) Harassment including verbal, physical or sexual is unlawful and will not be tolerated
4) Carrying or concealing any weapons or devices which may be used as weapons
5) Verbal abuse – swearing, profanity, fighting and arguing are not acceptable
6) Inappropriate behavior of a physical or sexual nature including – lewd behavior, inappropriate dress, excessive nudity and/or unwanted advances within any area of the YMCA
7) Removal or destruction of YMCA property or the property of someone else without his/her consent constitutes theft of property
8) Smoking
9) Unauthorized entrance into the facility by way of illegal use of a pass, sneaking in, refusing to present a photo ID upon entry, aiding & abetting
10) Lack of respect to staff or other members is not permitted
11) Cell phones and cameras are prohibited in locker rooms, rest rooms, fitness areas (cell phones are only permitted in designated areas)
It is expected that all members and guests will adhere to the Code of Conduct and violation of any statutes will result in disciplinary action, which may include immediate and permanent suspension, termination of privileges and/or arrest. Individuals who experience or observe inappropriate conduct are encouraged to promptly report their concern to YMCA Staff.
